Portrait works best (4:5)Every child gets stuck somewhere different. These are the places we visit most often — always at your child’s pace, never with pressure.
From counting in 2s to quick, confident recall — built through games, not drills and tears.
Pizza slices and chocolate bars first, notation second. It clicks much faster that way.
The quiet building blocks everything else stands on — we make sure they’re rock solid.
Turning long, wordy questions into small, friendly steps your child can trust.
Calm, steady practice spread across the year — so May feels like just another week.
For children who say “I’m just not a maths person.” (They are. They just don’t know it yet.)

Landscape works best (5:4)I’m Lisa — a primary maths tutor based locally. After more than a decade in primary classrooms, I now spend my afternoons doing my favourite part of the job: sitting beside one child, finding the exact spot where maths stopped making sense, and gently building it back up from there.
Sessions with me are calm and full of encouragement. We use whiteboards, counters, card games — whatever helps the penny drop. Progress is measured in lightbulb moments, and in children who stop dreading their maths homework.
A relaxed 15-minute chat about your child — what they enjoy, where they wobble, and what you’d love to change.
Our first session doubles as a gentle, game-based check-in. From it, I sketch a simple plan just for your child.
Regular one-to-one sessions, with a short note home after each one so you always know what we worked on.
“Maya used to cry over maths homework. Six months with Lisa and she now asks to show me her times tables.”
“Endlessly patient. Our son’s class teacher noticed the difference within a term.”
“The little notes after each session are lovely — we always know exactly what they’ve been working on.”
Tell me a little about your child and I’ll come back to you — usually within a day. The first chat is free and completely no-pressure.
